Barbara Morgenstern is one of Germany’s most distinctive musicians, shaping Berlin’s independent music scene for more than 20 years. From the living-room scene of the 1990s to award-winning theater productions with Rimini Protokoll, she has consistently followed her own artistic path, guided by a deep belief in the magic of music.

Her latest album In anderem Licht was released in January 2024 on Staatsakt and performed live with a six-piece acoustic band. Now returning to the stage solo, she presents new material from her upcoming album—still in the making—a poetic narrative following the journey of a blank page through change, searching, struggle, and the joy of becoming. Prophet synthesizer, voice, and electronics form the musical core, alongside selected songs from her previous albums.

Tonia Reeh presents her recently released album Blues Babies—dirty indie folk with acoustic guitar, raw vocals, and sharp, intimate storytelling. A long-standing figure of Berlin’s indie underground, her musical journey spans indie post-rock, electro-trash, piano punk, revolutionary flamenco, and film music.

After years with projects like Masonne, Jagoda, Monotekktoni, and La Tourette, and releases on labels such as Monika, Sinnbus, and Clouds Hill, she now returns to DIY and solo work under her own name. Her songs are feminist, anarchic, poetic, and unapologetically direct—always standing with the crooked, the exploited, and the outsiders. Sometimes accompanied by Eurico Ferreira Mathias on cello, her performances are raw, tender, and fiercely alive.
