AfrodreaM – “Guiss Guiss”
“Guiss Guiss” is much more than just an album: it is an emotional journey that invites tolerance, understanding, and inner slowness. In a world full of misunderstandings and cultural tensions, AfrodreaM strikes a path marked by warmth, meditation, and humanity. Each song is a piece of a mosaic that tells of roots, love, memory, and freedom.
The journey begins with La musique de Mélange, a declaration of love for music as a guiding force and universal passport. A celebration of cultural mixing that transcends boundaries. This is followed by Ma mère, an intimate tribute to a wise and strong mother – a spiritual and moral guide – a symbol of gratitude and eternal love.
Afrotrip opens up a dreamlike, meditative world of sound: an inner journey that combines African vibrations and archaic memories and celebrates invisible connections to one's own roots. Ethnique raises its voice against the cultural barriers that restrict love. A cry for freedom and courage for all who want to love without the chains of tradition or caste.
It continues with Jambar, a hymn to the quiet strength of a woman who remains faithful in the absence of her beloved husband. Then Bamako, a relentless account of the journey of African migrants to Europe—a voice for those who dare the impossible to find dignity, and a memorial to those who lost their lives in the desert or the sea.
The personal dimension returns with Ma belle, a pure love song full of gratitude, a promise of loyalty and mutual support. The album concludes with Où va le vent, a poetic ballad about fate and absence: the wind as a symbol of an invisible presence that guides and accompanies.
“Guiss Guiss” is an album that must be listened to with an open heart. An invitation to look beyond oneself, to embrace the other, to slow down and rediscover empathy. A bridge of sounds where walls once stood.
