The Sires Are Dead. Long Live the Sires!
Formed in 1995 in London the Sires released their first EP “High and 
Mighty” in 1996, recorded at Toe Rag Studios. They toured their 
fuzzed-up conflation of freakbeat, R&B and garage rock around Europe and 
1999 saw their debut album Rulers of Your Heart, recorded on four-track 
in a Shoreditch front room and mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
In 2024 The Sires got the band back together for an appearance at 
Hastings’ Beatwave Festival (20 years after their breakup). An 
ultra-rare 7” hand-cut by Russ Wilkins to mark the occasion sold out 
overnight. Turns out the crowd wanted more, so the old-new line-up are 
giving it another go: Domi Malacarne (The Dirty Burds, Tood) on vocals, 
harmonica and percussion, Andy Sire (The Bristols, Thursday’s Rhythm and 
Beat Organization) on vocals and guitar, Wayne Northern (Los Easylays, 
The Hurting Kind) on bass and Bongo Debbie (Thee Headcoatees, Ye Nuns) 
on drums.
The Sires stage a frenzied show full of soul-tinged Nuggets-inspired 
neo-60s freakbeat at its fuzziest.
