Informationen

Café Chocolat, is a new music series and community building event created by Melissa Perales (M:Soundtrack, Durchlüften, Music Pool Berlin) and Batila (the Dream bus, BantuSoul Allstars). We aim at celebrating and supporting local talents and newcomer black and brown artists & DJ’s within the diaspora of Germany’s communities. Our main thesis is that when communities are supported and treated fairly they will thrive. Aside from the showcases, this series is about surviving as an artist and creator in the black and brown community. We believe with more emphasis on “all of us”, we can create a more equitable event and make a contribution to our music scene. Please come out and support our efforts so we can continue this event!

She is a self-taught and multidisciplinary artist who integratesmusic composition, writing, video, performance, and costume in herpractice. The common thread of her work is individuality (mix heritage, woman, artist) in the community in relation and in confrontation with theantagonisms. She works solo, with her band Village Papa Nyangombe andin collaboration with artists from various disciplines and performs in theurban and alternative art scene of Kinshasa. Her EP “Fatherland” out in2023 is the reflection of the journey of a mix race artist working, thinkingand struggling as a woman in her father’s land-

Susan Augustt  aka Adorkor is a singer-songwriter based in Accra who blends neo afro-soul and Ghanaian traditional music such as highlife, agbadza, and kpanlogo. She has collaborated with Future Stars Charity on their “Periods of Change” project which aimed to provide menstrual hygiene education and health support to girls.

she moves seamlessly between genres and styles. She creates neo-afro soul pieces poignantly blended with indigenous Ghanaian rhythms that influence her fuse with the soul, lending their parts in the crafting of a unique live sound that takes listeners on a satisfying journey of culture and taste. Susan is born of Ga-Ewe descent and lived her early years in Obuasi, a suburb of the Ashanti Region in Ghana; she believes these multi-culture experiences have contributed to her versatility in her music. Apart from English, she sings in two local languages, Twi and Ga. If one thing is certain it is the fact that Susan is a live music artiste who would embrace every chance to light up a stage with her performance and music and can rekindle the much-lacking live music scene in our parts.
