knitting is the guitar-driven indie rock band of Mischa Dempsey, Sarah Harris, and Andy Mulcair. Emerging from Montreal’s DIY scene, filtering lyrical introspection through a warping, slacker-rock lens. With their 2024 debut album Some Kind of Heaven (Mint Records), knitting introduced their wiry and careening blend of indie rock evoking the nostalgia of 90s alternative rock bands, earning the band comparisons ranging from DIIV to Hole to Alex G. The release resonated widely, spending five weeks at #1 on the Canadian campus radio charts, garnering press from Pitchfork, The FADER and Stereogum (Bands To Watch, Best New Artists 2024), and taking knitting to festivals like SXSW, and tours across Canada, the US, UK and Europe.
